There’s nothing that puts me in the Summer mood quite like throwing a burger on the grill and hanging out with friends. And what better way to enjoy grilling your favorites than doing it while giving back? It’s a win-win if you ask me.

I’m super excited to partner with Beefitarian™ and participate in their Burgers & Beats contest to support the Nashville Food Project. I’ve been challenged with creating my own recipe inspired by a local musical event, artist or song. Nothing says Nashville, to me, quite like one of my favorite native artists, Dave Barnes. I’ve listened to his music for years and his latest album “Dreaming In Electric Blue” is phenomenal, especially one song in particular “Take Me Back to Nashville”. It’s such a great song and I could not think of a better person or song that resonates with my city quite like this one.

My “Take Me Back to Nashville” burger has ALL the flavors that represent my city. Whiskey, home grown veggies and some sweet and tangy sauces. Also, rather than going for your regular ground beef i’m opting for ground sirloin. I believe trying different cuts of beef can help create different depths to your burgers so don’t be afraid to branch out and try different beef options when creating grill magic. I love eating beef and incorporating it into my diet. I workout on the regular so beef is a great protein source and has so many vitamins and minerals to help with muscle recovery. I usually opt for lean and organic cuts of beef to make sure i’m fueling my body with healthy sources of protein instead of overly processed meats that you can sometimes see on your grocery store shelves. Don’t be afraid to ask your butcher questions when it comes to your cuts of meat. Knowledge is power and can help you make wise choices in life and especially in the kitchen.

Be sure and check out the recipe below and go to Beefitarian.com from July 20-30, 2020 to vote for my signature recipe because with every vote $1 is donated to the Nashville Food Project up to $10,000 so vote vote vote.
