Hey friends! How’s it going? you guys have a great weekend?

I must say that I could not be more happy about Spring. Even though we turned our clocks forward I don’t mind loosing an hour of sleep to enjoy more daylight.

Since Spring is almost here now is the time to clean out that clutter that you’ve been accumulating over the year not only physically and materialistically but also mentally. I find that clearing our minds of clutter can really be helpful in fullfilling our purpose and the things we strive for and destined to be. So…in light of the new season we are going to do a little Spring cleaning of our own…for our minds.

I’m going to give you 5 things that you can start doing today that will help you be a better vesion of yourself now. Let’s face it…we all know that we can be better in our day to day and I speak for myself as well when I say this so i’m in this with you.

So lets dive in…

1)  Change your attitude

I’m a firm believer that we have control over our minds and how we react and feel about certain situations. Wake up every morning with a fresh outlook on life. Say to yourself “Today I choose to be happy”. Mentally focusing on this throughout your day you will start to notice that the little things that used to bug you sudden just don’t anymore. My mom has always instilled in me to look on the positive side of things and that’s a trait I’m glad to inherit. Not only do I tend to not focus on the bad in the world but the good things just seem to be that much better. Give it a try for at least 7 days and tell me you’re not a more overall happy person.

2) Look for the good in people

It’s so easy to focus on the bad in the world and in people. Try to start focusing on the good in people. If you seek out a reason to hate someone, you’ll find it. If you seek out a reason to like someone, you’ll find it. Just becuase you disagree with someone doesn’t mean they are a bad person. They just think and process differently than you do. Try and find some common ground and pick out a few positives about that person and you’ll soon start to do that with everyone. Let’s face it…the world could use a little more positivity am I right?

3) Take a mental break everyday

From the time we wake up in the morning to the time we go to bed our minds are constantly racing with information from making coffee, getting the kids ready for school, rushing to work, that presentation that’s do for your boss, whatever it may be…take 2 minutes at the least out of your day to stop, breathe and refocus. Trust me…it’s saved me more times than I can say. If I find i’m getting stressed about work or life in general I will turn on my “Stepmom” soundtrack and close my eyes for a few minutes and take a breather. Life is stressful enough so to take a few to breathe in the calm and exhale the conflict is much needed.

4) Exercise, Exercise, Exercise

I can’t stress this one enough. When you exercise your body releases endorphins which help in aiding in lowering stress levels, boost self-esteem, improve sleep etc. I can personally atest that when i’ve had a rough day I know I can go throw a bunch of weights around and immediatley feel better. At least 3-4 times a week of weight lifting with some cardio will help you clear your mind and lift your spirits.

5) Stop comparing yourself to others

In the world of Facebook and Instagram it’s so easy to scroll through other peoples lives and start comparing what they have and what you don’t. It’s toxic so stop doing it. I can tell you that I used to do it all the time and get down on myself when I saw people traveling all over the place and doing this or doing that or getting all this free stuff. What you don’t know is what you see on the screen or your phone isn’t necessarily how their life truly is. Everyone has their own struggles in life so you never know what someone in those envious photos is going through. Focus on YOU. I’ll say it again…FOCUS ON YOUUU! you know what you want out of life and what you need to do to get there. Start taking the steps today to get you where you want to be and stop worrying about someone who isn’t YOU.

I truly want the best for everyone and if I can offer any advice that can help you guys along the way I want to do it. You are amazing human beings and we are all trying to get through this life enjoying it to the fullest and I truly believe if you put into practice these 5 things i’ve listed, you will be on your way to living a fulfilling and purposeful life.
